Ho Chi Minh City trip. Tips for you.

Today is the third day i'm in Ho Chi Minh City.  Of course we fly here by Air Asia. The first day we arrive, we check in at Saigon Pink 2 Hotel.  We choose this hotel because of there is no step at the entrance of the hotel, suitable for elderly who have difficulties climbing the stairs.  But please before you fly from your country, write down your hotel address as not all viet taxi driver understand english.  We just show the address to make the driver understand.  If you have a destination to go, please prepare yourself with addresses.

After we have our rest about 1 hour. We go to a curtain shop.  This shop is recommend by a friend. We have communicated tru email before we fly.  I gave her the measurement tru email. But she need a drawing so i bought it to her that day.  Her name is Phuc. Contact no: 08.3833 063.  She can speaks English. So it is easier for you to deal with her.  I order curtain for 4 nos of 2 panel window, 1 no of sliding door, 1 no of 1 panel window and 1 no of 4 panel window. All of them costs me around 11,000 viet dong. She told me that she can deliver to our hotel the day before we fly back to malaysia that is tonight.

Then that night we eat at Serai Restaurant. We call off the day after dinner.

Second day, we follow a trip tru travel agent to Mekong River. Interesting places we go. Longans are cost at 30,000 viet dong per kg.  We have bought before at Ben Than Market but it cost us 100,000 viet dong per kg. Please people, if you intend to buy fruit, it must below 50,000 viet dong per kg.

Then at night we went to Linda Wholesale.  This shop closes at 2300. It offer a lot of Jubah and Baju Kurung at cheap price.  You should go here first before buying any clothes at other places in Ho Chi Minh. Trust me, it is kuch more worth it. Lycra telekung just cost RM32. Half moon shawl that she sew for Ratu cost me RM18/each. Baju kurung lyca cost RM40. Blouse lycra cost RM20-RM25. Jubah Lycra cost about RM34. Call/whatsapp Linda before you go at +849388 23457

The next day, that is this morning, we go to cho bin tay (china town) you can find many vietnam silk (RM35) and vietnam cotton (RM22). Maybe you guys can get better price than this if you really a good at bargain.  I also order a made to measure jubah.  I order 2 jubah at RM150, materiel and sew altogether.  They will send it tonight. Can you believe that? That fast... Oh yes i fogot to tell you that they accept Ringgit Malaysia and Viet Dong.

After we finished spending our money there, we take a break at our hotel. At noon we go to Ben Than Market. Here we buy souviniers and bags. This kind of bag cost me RM30.
This bag cost me RM50

So thats all for today, i'll update more tips for you guys if I remember.  Bye for now...

Laksa Asam (a.k.a. Laksa Penang) in Setiawangsa

Hello,

This time I'm going to tell about the stall or shop who sell Laksa Asam.  There is 2 places that you can try out.

The 1st place I recommend is Warung Pak Din.  He only sells laksa starting noon till evening.  At night he will close his stall.  His stall is located at Jalan AU2B.

The 2nd place is a shop located at Medan Selera Taman Setiawangsa in Jalan Setiawangsa 13.  I don't remember the shop's name.  But I'm aware that this shop only opens starting 6pm till late night.

So for you guys who seek laksa in setiawangsa area, you can try this out. :)

Breakfast Place Recommendation 1

Last time, I've been searching a breakfast place in Setiawangsa area.  And I recommend all of you to have a breakfast near Jalan Taman Setiawangsa.

If you take DUKE Highway, you must take the Jalan Enggang exit and you will find a roundabout.  Take the 2nd exit and you will find a restaurant under a big tree exactly at the junction on your left.

If you are from Jalan setiawangsa, you have to drive towards Jalan Enggang.  When you reach at the 1st roundabout, take the 3rd exit and you will see the restaurant on your left.

Harvest Tobacco in Setiawangsa & Ipoh, Malaysia Area

Hai all. I'm married now.. heheh...So, in this section I want to share with the readers about my survey regarding my husband favourite that is Cigar.  Currently he like to roll his cigar using Harvest Tobacco Brand.  He likes Double Vanilla or vanilla.. So for smokers like my hubby, I like to tell you where you can buy the cheapest Harvest Tobacco in Setiawangsa, Kuala Lumpur and Ipoh, Perak.  Of course both the places are in Malaysia.

The first cheapest is at the indian store at Jalan Setiawangsa 8 opposite Sekinchan Ikan Bakar Restaurant between dobby shop and a book store.  It sell the Harvest Tobacco plus the paper for RM 11.90.

The 2nd shop is in indian shop in guardian and pizza hut area.  The shop at Jalan AU 1A/4F is just beside a Book & stationary Store.  You will also find a children's uniform store and Mamak restaurant in the same lane of the Shop.  The shop sell Harvest Tobacco plus the paper for RM12.20.

The last choice for you is 7 Eleven that sell the Harvest Tobacco for RM 12.10 without paper.  If you want the paper, you have to pay another RM 1.20.  So, altogether is RM 13.30.  I think all 7 eleven sells the product.

When you are in Ipoh, you can get it at the Tobacco shop in Jaya Jusco, Kinta City in the 2nd floor just opposite The Skin Shop.  The shop sells Harvest Tobacco plus the paper for RM11.90.

So, I hope this article will help the smokers find your tobacco shop in setiawangsa and Ipoh area.  Thank you.. ;)

Malay Wedding Tradition & Wedding Gifts (Hantaran)

My wedding is coming up.  I want to tell a bit about my experience in order to make it happen.  It seems that my family doesn't follow the Malay Tradition in Malaysia.  By the way, I list down the Malay Tradition in getting married for your reference:

1. Merisik
2. Bertunang
3. Bernikah
4. Walimatulurus/Kenduri Bersanding.

As for me, I experience the other way, a bit modern I think.

First, my future husband come and meet my family for the first time.  Tell you what, he is so gentleman.  He come to my house alone during Hari Raya with all my aunts, uncle and cousin around.

After some while, he come for the second time.  Also alone.  This time, it's interview time.  He've been interviewed by my parents for hours... but he still calm.. Proud of him do much.

Until then, he never met my parents but we will have a family gathering between my family and his family.  This time, his family just bring a ring.  That's all.  I think this is what we call as Merisik.  This time, our family will decide when will the event take place.

After that, Nikah day after 1 month of Merisik. Then the Kenduri will take place 6 month after.

So I have list down my list of Wedding Gifts (Hantaran) checklist for me as a Malaysian.  For those who are getting married, this could be your reference.

Wedding Gift (Hantaran) for Him (9 Trays)
1. Shirt + Slack + Tie
2. A Pair of Shoes
3. Perfume + Toiletries
4. Sejadah + Tafsir + Kiblat Compass
5. Watch
6. Rayban
7. Belt + Wallet
8. Chocs
9. Cake

Wedding Gift for Her (Me ;) ) (7 Trays)
1. Perfume + Toiletries
2. Shades + Watch
3. Sejadah + Telekung
4. Handbag + Purse
5. Duit Hantaran
6. Sirih Junjung
7. Fruits

Altogether costs us around RM 3000++.  So, loving couple out there, I advice that you have this certain amount of money to buy gifts.  This total cost I get during Chinese New Year Sale.  If not, maybe the price will be much higher.
